Kirkland joins state’s Business Licensing Service

OLYMPIA, WASH. – Nov. 29 2018 – Today, the Department of Revenue adds the city of Kirkland – the state’s 12^th largest city by population – as a local partner in the Business Licensing Service. Nearly 10,000 companies do business in the city of Kirkland annually.

“Gaining Kirkland as a partner will improve the licensing experience for thousands of businesses,” Revenue Acting Director Randy Simmons said. “The more we can streamline the process, the more time businesses have to focus on their work.”

Kirkland is the 83rd city to add the service where local businesses can apply for more than 400 different required registrations in a single transaction. About one-third of all cities statewide work with BLS for local licensing. By January 2020, about half of Washington cities that license businesses locally will be BLS partners.
