Sunnyside up: Yakima Valley city partners with state to streamline business licensing

Olympia, Wash. – Nov. 2, 2017 – Today, the Department of Revenue announced Sunnyside is the newest local partner to join the state Business Licensing Service.

BLS gives the local business community a boost by simplifying license application, renewal, and payment processes. Sunnyside is the 71^st city to join the BLS which brings the city business licensing requirements together with state licenses that businesses may need to operate, such as minor work permits and liquor licenses.

BLS is a clearinghouse offering about 400 licenses, registrations and endorsements from state agency programs and partner cities. The Department of Revenue manages one of the few systems nationwide allowing businesses to simultaneously register with state agencies and cities in a single annual transaction. Sunnyside joins many communities along the I-82 corridor including Kennewick, Prosser, and Richland to partner with the state’s streamlined “one-stop-service” for business licensing.
