Increases help pay for criminal justice, transportation
OLYMPIA, Wash. – Dec. 14, 2017 – Consumers in the cities of Blaine and Port Angeles, and in Pacific County will pay more sales tax on purchases starting Jan. 1, 2018.
Local sales tax rates in the city of Blaine will increase two-tenths of 1 percent, to a total sales tax rate of 8.7 percent. The tax increase will be used to help pay for transportation services within a newly established transportation benefit district.
Shoppers in the city of Port Angeles will pay a sales tax of 8.6 percent on purchases, an increase of two-tenths of 1 percent. The tax bump will be used to pay for transportation services.
The sales tax rate in the cities and unincorporated areas of Pacific County will increase by one-tenth of 1 percent to a total of 8.1 percent. That tax increase will be used to pay for criminal justice.
